Obituary JOHN LOUCKS CHRISTENSON, SR. September 11, 1925 - August 28, 2012 John (Jack) L. Christenson, Sr., passed away peacefully on Aug 28, 2012 in Tacoma, WA. He was born on Sept 11, 1925 in Rochester, MN to his parents John M. Christenson and Lucy L. (Loucks) Christenson. His family moved to Kasson, MN where he graduated from high school in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps serving during WWII in the Pacific theatre. He returned home to Minnesota, enrolled at the University of Minnesota thanks to the GI Bill and graduated with a BA degree in Accounting. He met Geraldine (Jeri) quickly thereafter and they were married on October 9, 1948. Their first son John was born in 1950 followed by their second son Hans in 1960. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Tacoma in 1960. Jack worked 37 years for Weyerhaeuser as their Risk Manager. Professionally, he was an active member of the Risk Insurance Management Society. Outside of work, he was active in St. Patrick's Parish and school serving as a parish council member, along with being a basketball and track coach for the school. He volunteered with the North End Athletic Association. He was also a member of the Tacoma Elks Club and Fircrest Golf Club. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years of marriage by his wife Geraldine (Jeri) Christenson. Jack is survived by sons John (wife Roz) and Hans (wife Lee); grandchildren Nola, Alice and Jack. Jack was known as a funny, upbeat and straightforward person and will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Franciscan Health Hospice in University Place for their care and support for Jack during his last days. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00am on September 10th at St. Patrick's Church in Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to Franciscan Health Hospice.
