Obituary John (Jack) E. Armour 75, left for a special place with his Lord on July 5, 2011. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor to many; he was born in Tacoma on April1, 1936. John graduated from Bellarmine Prep. and the University of Puget Sound earning a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. After two years of proud service in the United States Army, he started his lifelong profession as an educator in the Tacoma School District. After several years as a teacher Jack became a school principal retiring from Lowell Elementary School after 36 years of service. Dad truly was one of those lucky people whose passion for educating children blended with his life's work. An avid outdoorsman and lifelong learner, he spent many days enjoying the natural world of his native Washington, hunting, fishing and hiking. John was a member of many service organizations and past president of The Association of Washington State Principals. He particularly enjoyed his many friends at Pheasants Forever. John is survived by his wife of 52 years Joanne, children Kathy Schau (Ed), John (Shelley) and Brad (Angie), and his brother Phil Armour. He is also survived by his grandchildren, his greatest joy: Ben, Andrew, Nicole, Rebecca, Rocco, Josie, Zoe and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Craddock for his compassionate and extraordinary care. A Vigil Service will be held at Gaffney Funeral Home on Sunday July 10th at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday July 11th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Memorials can be made to St. Leo's Food Connection in Tacoma or Tacoma Schools Help a Student Fund.
