Joanne Kristen (Weinbrecht) Leeking

Obituary JoAnne Kristen Weinbrecht Leeking passed away unexpectedly at home in Spokane, WA on June 1, 2017. She was just 44. JoAnne was born April 4, 1973 at Madigan Hospital. She grew up in Milton, WA and attended school in the Milton/Fife School district. She was a gifted athlete, playing both soccer and basketball. In her junior year, she transferred to Bellarmine High School where she continued to shine on the basketball court. After graduation, she attended Pacific University in Oregon and graduated with a degree in psychology. She met her future husband, Chris Leeking, in 1996 and they were married in 1997. They welcomed their daughter Hailey in 2000 and their son Nathan in 2003. JoAnne and Chris were divorced in 2012, and afterwards developed and maintained a great friendship. She met her dear friend, Angela Devore, in 2013 and moved to Spokane. JoAnne's life was her kids. She talked, posted, text and called to keep us all updated on their attempts and successes. Whether it be basketball, track, football or band, she made sure those kids were there to participate, no matter where or when. When she wasn't spending time with the kids, she was supporting family and friends. JoAnne truly loved and cared about her family and friends. If you were her friend, you were her friend for life! JoAnne is survived by the loves of her life; Hailey (17) and Nathan (14). She is also survived by her parents, Ed and Gerry Weinbrecht; Angela Devore, a dear friend; sisters Cheryl Swanberg and Karen (Gary) Hughes; along with seven nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, June 29th at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife. Preceding the service, the Rosary will be said at 10:30. There will be a reception following Mass. Inurnment at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Chase Bank to The Hailey Leeking Fund (one account for both children).
