Joanne Shirley Armour

Joanne (Orlando) Armour, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 18, 2023. We are comforted to know that she is with God and reunited with her husband Jack and son John.
Joanne was born in Tacoma on July 1, 1937, to Frank and Virginia Orlando and was the youngest of six children. She grew up on Hosmer Street surrounded by a loving Italian community. Joanne graduated from Stadium High School and soon after met her soul mate Jack Armour. They were married for 53 years and raised three children. Simply put, Joanne’s greatest joy was caring for and spending time with her family, siblings, nieces, nephews, and their growing families. She was the keeper of our family history and was the first to acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates. Being true to her Italian roots, her love language was cooking preparing delicious food to share with others. After her kids were raised Joanne went to work in the Human Resources Department for Tacoma Public Schools. She made many special friends during her time with TPS. She retired in 2003. Joanne is survived by her daughter Kathy Schau (Ed), son Brad Armour (Angie), daughter in law Shelley Ransom. Sister Mary Jean Rovai. Grandchildren; Ben Schau (Tracy), Andrew Armour (Hali), Nikki Dionas (Nick), Josie and Zoe Armour,
Rebecca and Rocco Ronzone. Great grandchildren; Blakely, Stella, Iyla and Finn.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tacoma, on Wednesday August 30 th at 11:00 am. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:15 am prior to mass.
