Obituary Jo Ann Hand Born November 20, 1928 in Osborne, Kansas, Jo Ann was raised in Roseburg, Oregon. She met her loving husband-to-be, Bill Hand, in 1943 and married him in his hometown, Tacoma on August 4, 1944. Upon Bill's return from WWII, they made their home in Tacoma until moving to University Place in 1971. Jo Ann retired from Ft. Lewis as an Accounting Technician and Supervisor after 25 years of service. In the early 1990's, after Jo Ann and Bill had retired from Federal Civil Service, Bill accepted a position in Kaoshung, Taiwan. Jo Ann loved living in Taiwan. She also enjoyed her shopping excursions to Hong Kong and Seoul. Jo Ann was an avid fan of Figure Skating. Over the years she traveled to many National Championships and International Championships with her daughter, granddaughters, and special friends. Jo Ann enjoyed "antiquing", an activity she learned from her many travels to New Hampshire. Jo Ann had a great love for Hawaii and the people of Hawaii, and they loved her right back. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving mother, Marjy B. Hagen, her father, Howard Casebeer, and her beloved brother-in-law, Jess Barger. Survivors include her husband Bill, son Greg (Susan), daughter Mike Konek (Jim), sister Dorothy Barger , brother-in-law Ken Hand (Kathy), grandchildren Paul Konek, Salli Konek, Beth Casey (Scott), great grandchildren Sophia, Alexis and Bella Casey and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. We, the family wish to extend a special Thank You to the wonderful staff at TG's Intensive Care and Progressive Care units, especially Anne, Shawn and Kristina. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 25, 2006, 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Monday, April 24, 2006, 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel.
