Obituary Joan Kathleen (Kaperick) Tomasek 11/29/1934 ~ 9/11/2014 On September 11, 2014, Joan died peacefully surrounded by family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; daughter, Chris Wascisin (Bill); son, Tom Tomasek; sisters, Geraldine Stephenson, Louise Sitterrud (Dave), Leona MacDicken (Norm); brother, Larry Kaperick; and many other relatives. Meeting monthly with her high school friends from St. Leo's was a special pleasure for her because it gave her an opportunity to rehash old times and put to use her keen sense of humor. Even though she was a bit of a prankster, she held her children to high standards, a quality she developed as a youngster when she would take note of and deal with any of her sibling's deviant behavior, especially sounding out her younger brother whenever he strayed from the straight and narrow. Chances are good that she is already advising Michael the Archangel on how to deal with his subordinates. Joan will be sorely missed, but we know that Heaven has gained a precious soul. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30am prior to Mass also at church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Because Christmas was her favorite time of year, guests are encouraged to wear anything "Christmasy". Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
