Joan Lavern Sullivan

Obituary Joan L. Sullivan was born October 3, 1928, passed away peacefully February 27, 2019. She was born in Yakima WA to Lloyd and Vernice Langmack. She attended grade school at St. Patrick's Catholic School and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School both in Tacoma WA. Joan worked as a secretary at General Mills. She met the love of her life William Sullivan and they were married June 3 1950. The couple moved to St. Louis MO so Bill could attend medical school, Joan had fully intended to go to work and help Bill through school, but along came baby Jill and then Jan! The growing family moved to Seattle while Bill was an intern at Providence Hospital, two more beautiful babies were welcomed, Mary Ann and Susan. They settled in Lakewood WA to raise their growing family. They were blessed with four more children, John, Jimmy, Charlie and Colleen. Joan was a loving mother and housewife. She always made sure each child had a special birthday!! She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed many family camping trips. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, golf, and traveling. She was a devout Catholic. She loved to travel and went to many cities and countries, including Ireland, England, Guadeloupe, The Holy Land, Italy, Acapulco, Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, and more! Joan and Bill enjoyed their weekend getaways and lunches at Harbor Lights. Joan was a founding member of Our Lady of Guadeloupe Maternity Center and a member of Catholic Daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. William Sullivan, sons John and Jimmy, granddaughters Kate and Beth. She is survived by, her Sister Jill, her children Jill [Vern], Jan, Mary Ann [John], Susan [Jack], Charlie [Diana] Colleen. Service Details
Rosary will be held Thursday March 7th at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Frances Cabrini Church.
