Joan Haworth

April 24, 1924 — January 23, 2018

Obituary Joan Haworth, born Eva Joan Rezner April 29,1924, died peacefully on January 23rd in Puyallup, Wa., with her sons by her side. She is survived by her two sons, Jack (Geri) and Jeff, by four wonderful grandchildren - Shane, Brad, Amanda and Alyssa, her sister Eileen Horner, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd of 55 years, brother Edward and sister Doreen. Joan was born in Alliance, Nebraska and moved to Tacoma in 1948. She was a Fife resident for 64 years and a dedicated and devoted member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic church for all those years. She retired after 28 years from civil service at McChord AFB in 1984. She served on the Fife Planning Commission for several for many years. She was a proud and active member of the "Daughters of the American Revolution". In retirement, Joan spent her time engaged in many pursuits. She was a talented Tole painting artist creating folk art on many wooden objects. Her artwork was beautiful and very fulfilling, but it was the long lasting friendships she made in her painting classes that she enjoyed the most. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed many years growing and nurturing her many plants including tomatoes and flowers, and we can't forget to mention her roses, which everyone enjoyed. She loved to travel and looked forward to spending time with her parish friends on many bus tour excursions visiting the Pacific Northwest scenery. With her family, she enjoyed her back yard sanctuary which was home to a wide variety of native birds. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always smiling, laughing and bringing joy to others. Joan was devoted and dedicated to her faith and to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren. Her extended family was also very special to her. They include Colleen, Marcus, Christopher, Kathy and Bob.
