Obituary Jeff was born on January 28, 1954, in La Grande, Oregon, as the first child of Jack and Roberta Jenkins. The family lived in La Grande, Nyssa, and West Linn, Oregon before moving to Hermiston, Oregon in 1960, along with his brother Charles, 20 months his junior. His brother Rob joined them in 1961. Jeff grew up in Hermiston. He graduated from Hermiston High School in 1972. Jeff went on to graduate from Eastern Oregon State College with a Bachelor's Degree in 1976. Jeff was an avid skier and skied at Anthony Lakes Ski Resort throughout his college days and after. After college, Jeff focused on a career in food service management: at Copper Kitchen restaurants; at ski resorts (Anthony Lakes, Schweitzer (ID), Red Lodge (MT), and Alpine Meadows (CA)); at entertainment and sports venues in Sacramento, Mountain View, and Berkeley CA and in Portland OR. Jeff also taught ski school at Mount Hood's Timberline ski resort. Jeff lived a full life in his 20's and 30's, despite the epilepsy that become more active as Jeff entered his early 20's. In February 1994, at the age of 40, Jeff had a stroke. From then on, Jeff struggled with the after effects of his stroke and the ongoing epileptic seizures and in later years a series of physical problems. Jeff never let his disability get him down, never complained, and always fought the good fight. He stayed interested in life, sports, politics, and those around him. Jeff dealt with his disability the best he could, with help from his dad, his brothers, and, early on, from his then wife Charlene. Jeff lived out near Mount Hood OR for several years after his stroke, then lived in assisted living in Tualatin and Oregon City OR for over a decade. Jeff's last few years were spent in nursing homes in Oregon City and Tigard OR and, for the last 18 months, in Tacoma, near his brother Rob. Jeff passed away on Sunday, September 30th, in Tacoma, WA. He was 64 years of age. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his college love and former partner Sylvia Duarte of Santa Rosa CA and their daughter and granddaughter, Robyn and Kelly Weber of Camino Island, WA, his former wife, Charlene Fleming of Cottonwood CA, cousins Greg Hays of Denver and Kathy Kostka of Gig Harbor WA, and his brothers; Charles of Soldotna AK and Rob of Tacoma.
