Obituary Jeanne M. Charlton Jeanne was born on August 8, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Edward and Ellen Murray and passed away on July 14, 2014 with her husband at her side. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Murray. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, William S. Charlton; two children, Lorraine M. Ruff, and William S. Jr.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She and William were married on October 8th, 1945. When her husband retired from the Air Force, they relocated to Tacoma in 1963. While there she became best known as owner and director of the Lakewood Puppeteers, which operated over a period of 30 years. Her troupe delighted more than 300,000 school children throughout western Washington. A highlight of her career was an invitation to present a Christmas show at the Governor's mansion. Other shows were presented to many organizations and clubs. She was a member of The National League of American Pen Women Inc. for over 40 years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Lakewood. Interment at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
