Obituary Jean Martelli, born January 21, 1909, died April 21, 2005. She was born in Glen, Montana, the youngest daughter of Angelo and Mary Masella. As a child she lived in Cantalupo, Abruzzi, Italy until the age of 7 when her family returned to Montana where her father worked as a Section Foreman for the Northern Pacific Railroad. When Jean married she and her husband moved to Tacoma where they raised their family. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Senior Club. In her last years she was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Jean loved working with her hands, she baked, cooked, sewed and worked in her garden, and where ever she lived she was always surrounded by flowers. Jean also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making things for them and telling stories of her youth and growing up. Jean was the last of five children and was preceded in death by her husband Alex and a granddaughter Lauri Waterman. She is survived by: son, Donald (Meryle) Martelli; daughter, Virginia (James) Moceri, both of University Place; grandchildren, Paula (Byron) Burris, Sumner, Cindy (Larry) Johnson, Seattle, Judy (Dannie) Rudolph, Sumner, Carol (Kevin) Purcell, Sherwood, Oregon, Jeanne (Robert) Moser, Tacoma, Tina (Kevin) Kelly, Summer, Donald (Jan) Martelli, Redmond, Lynette (Allen) Richardson, Tacoma, Dina (Tom) Keyt, Boise, Idaho and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 25, 2005 11:00 am, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 24, 2005 7:00 pm at the Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel.
