Obituary JEAN BAIRD December 10, 1921 - August 13, 2005 Jean Baird passed away on August 13th, 2005 surrounded by her family. Jean was born to Theresa and Mike Scalara on December 10th, 1921 and was raised on South State Street in Tacoma until her marriage to George Baird on November 29th, 1941. Their first 20 years together were spent traveling around the world while Dad was in the Army. They traveled through many countries in Europe and lived in Greece and Germany for some time. After retirement, they moved to Twin Lakes where Mom took up golf, and loved every round she played. She even won the Lady's Club Championship several times, but her claim to fame was a hole in one! Not only was she a great golfer, she was also an excellent bowler. Over the years, she belonged to many bowling leagues. She and Dad also enjoyed dancing with their Dance Club at Twin Lakes. She loved spending the winter months with friends and family in Arizona. The true light of her life was her great-grandchildren. She was always thrilled to spend time with them and loved to spoil them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Mike Scalara, brother John Scalara, sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Carl Shows. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, George; son George (Cathie) Baird; daughter Lesley (Greg) Edin; grandchildren: Vince (Dayna) Baird, Angela (Jeff) Sorenson, Kelly (Patrick) O'Horo; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Don Scalara, and sister-in-law Jackie Fors, and many nieces and nephews. Our wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, 10:00 am, August 18, 2005, at St. Rita Catholic Church.
