Obituary Janette Williams Janette Swayze Williams Janette Swayze Williams, 98, passed away in Tacoma, WA March 3, 2010. Jan was born in Mellette, SD November 5, 1911. She and her husband Don moved to Waukegan, IL in 1939, where she became a teller at The First National Bank, and Don worked at Sears Roebuck while raising their two children. They retired in 1964 to travel the beckoning United States, ultimately settling amid the ponderosa pines in Prescott, AZ. Jan lived in Sun City, AZ before moving to Tacoma in the fall of 2008. Besides developing deep and lasting relationships with her many friends and satisfying her wanderlust, Jan was an avid reader, a sports fan, and enjoyed a good game of cards. She was brave, generous and caring, with a sharp mind and a keen sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter Sondra Purcell (Don)Eof Tacoma, her son Jay Williams (Mary) of Waukegan, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, and her parents Christine (Bodine) and Jay Swayze. A memorial service will be held at the Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler Street, Tacoma, WA, at 3p.m. on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010. Family and friends will also gather in Sun City at a time and place to be determined.
