Obituary Janet Rae (Miller) Welsh, wife of John Welsh (d.), daughter of Ray (d.) and Dorothy Miller (d.), and sister of Marlene Marshall (d.), Ken, Mike, Ed, and Tim Miller died February 6th, after a valiant fight with cancer. Janet leaves four children: John Welsh, Jr (Kelly), Jennifer O'Loughlin (Tom), Jerilynn Mohrbacher (Dan), and Jody DeGroot (Dave). Janet also said goodbye to eight loving grandchildren: Sara Welsh, Erin Butler (Jeremy), Brien (Nicole), and Colin O'Loughlin, Kelli and Alison Mohrbacher, and Katy and Ryan DeGroot. Janet graduated from St. Leo High School in 1954 and worked at Liberty House before becoming a cook for Tacoma Public Schools. She worked as cook manager at Larchmont, Fern Hill, and Sheridan Elementary schools. She loved everyone she worked with and especially the students she cooked for. Cooking was more than a job for Janet; it was a way of life, and she showed her love for her friends and family through many creative recipes and classic dishes. As Janet's children were growing up, she coached the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams at Sacred Heart and Holy Rosary Schools, and her love of sports carried through to her ferocious support of the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks. An active member of St. Leo Parish and the Sisters of Providence Peace Community, Janet's faith came alive through her passion for justice, regular activism, and civic engagement. Janet was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a good friend to many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Leo Emergency Services or Camp Gallagher.
