Obituary "Everyday is a good day!" Our dad, James R. Yocom, 99 years young, died to New Life Oct. 13, 2010 at St. Anthony's Hosp. in Gig Harbor. He was born in Tacoma and graduated from St. Martin's High School and College in 1932. He played football and boarded there seven years. He met the love of his life Vivian on St. Patrick's Day 1931. He owned an institutional wholesale grocery business for over 50 years until his retirement in 1987. He participated in senior singing groups: Memory Singers, Funtime Singers, Ruston Center Singers, and his church choir at St. Patrick's. He was a great inspiration to many people young and old, everywhere he went, for his outlook on life, determination and independence. He is preceded in death by Vivian, married for 63 years, Mother - Mary Elizabeth Rose Yocom Duff and Father - James Reed Yocom, M.D. He is survived by daughters Ellen Reisenauer (Mark) and Ali Ruegamer. Grandchildren are Sheri, Hans, Tristan, and Rose. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at St. Patrick's Church on November 20.
