Jim grew up at the beautiful home his parents built on Chambers Creek in Puyallup, now the location of Vassey's Nursery. In 1943 he married his wife of 53 years Betty Alice Cleary and raised three children, James Jr., Gail and Jeff. He graduated from Stadium High School, attended the College of Puget Sound, worked at Boeing during WWII, and retired from Commonwealth Title Co. after approximately 40 years of employment there. For more than 30 years he entertained and socialized at Fircrest Golf Club where he cut up the links until only recently, rain or shine. He enjoyed a second marriage to June Elleflot and loved the time spent with her family, Jann Hatrup and Jeanne and Troy Tacket. Last April a large gathering of friends, family and former colleagues celebrated his 90th birthday at Narrows Glen Retirement Community, a day rich in music, libation and great story telling. "Thank you dad for a lifetime of wonderful memories." He was preceded in death by his daughter Gail Elizabeth Scott, his wife Betty Cleary Scott, and second wife June Elleflot.
