Obituary Jim Mack James Louis Mack was born in Tacoma on October 8, 1950, the third and youngest child of Eugene Edward Mack and Ann Mary (Vlahovich) Mack. He died on July 18, 2013. Jim was a graduate of Bellarmine Prep and Western Washington University. He retired from the City of Tacoma in 2007, after a varied career at Tacoma Public Utilities, including as manager of Geographic Information Systems. He served on the Bellarmine Alumni Board and the school's Facilities Committee. He was a past President of the Bellarmine Boosters, and this year received the Jeff Buhr Award for Outstanding Volunteerism from the Boosters. In presenting the award, Bellarmine described Jim as "always present and ready to serve Bellarmine with his outstanding work ethic and wry sense of humor." He is survived by his sister Kathleen (Seattle), brother Robert (Tacoma), and nephew Aaron Klein (Seattle and Eugene, Oregon). Jim's family thanks all of those who assisted him in his year-long struggle with cancer, including the following: the many friends, neighbors, and family members on whom he relied for assistance and support; the doctors, nurses, and staff of Multicare, including especially Doctors Sutherland, Inoue, Singh, Brecher, and Manlapaz; the doctors and staff of the University of Washington Medical Center; the staff of Franciscan Hospice; Catholic Community Services; and Fathers Chapdelaine, Laverty, and Mayovsky. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Church, Tacoma. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
