James Cogsdell

Obituary James Cogsdell, 63, died June 10, 2005. He was a loving husband and father, and was a foster parent for more than 25 years. Jim was devoted to his country and joined the Alabama National Guard as a teen, then spent 9-1/2 years regular Army before rejoining the National Guard and he retired from the US Army Reserve after almost 45 years of service. Jim is survived by his wife Esther "Sisti"; children, James (Cindy), Thomas (Cindy), Deborah (Carl) Vanderzanden, Carrie (Greg) Outcalt; sisters, Elizabeth, Lorene, Barbara Jo, Minnie Belle; brothers, Thomas and William; 10 grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sara, and a sister, Allene. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2005, 2:00 pm at the Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005, 2:00 pm at River View Cemetery in Portland, OR.
