Obituary James Mitchel Angelel August 16, 1939 - August 18, 2007 Jim passed away peacefully on August 18th. Born in Seattle in 1939, Jim was raised in Tacoma. He led a long and noteworthy career as a teacher and coach, following in the footsteps of his father, Mitch. Jim was a graduate of Stadium High School (1957) and the University of Washington (1961). He started his teaching/ coaching career at Shoreline in 1962, and moved back to Tacoma two years later where he taught science classes, coached a variety of sports, and served as the athletic director over the course of a 33-year career. Jim was a unique individual who touched the lives of many. His competitiveness and work ethic were surpassed only by his kindness, compassion and selflessness. He loved all manner of sports, especially those in which his children and grandchildren participated. He also loved the waters of Puget Sound, the green fairways of Fircrest Golf Club, music and his rose garden. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joellen; his daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Jim Storie, and grandchildren Michael, Mackenzie and Madison; his son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Darcy Angelel, and grandchildren Justin and Connor.
