Jacqueline “Jackie” June Forddred Tebow died on July 21, 2021. Born December 5, 1952, in Tacoma, WA, Jacqueline spent much of her childhood in Tacoma and the surrounding areas with her family. After her father Kennor J. Forddred died in 1959, she and her mother Marian moved north to Seattle, WA, where her mother later married Jackie’s stepfather, Gene Fitzmaurice.
Jackie graduated from Blanchet High School in 1971 and began attending Gonzaga University, where she met Michael W. Tebow and later married him in 1974. Their son Matthew was born in 1975, two stillbirths followed, and their son Daniel was born in 1979. Jackie spent many years balancing occasional work selling Tupperware and raising a family. She attained her teaching certificate from Eastern Washington University in 1985 and moved back to western Washington to be a substitute teacher for the next several years in the Kent, Auburn, and Sumner school districts. Finding school politics frustrating, she began working in customer service at REI in Sumner, where she later moved after her divorce from Michael in 2000.
Jackie loved watching movies and TV series with her sons, sharing her home with friends and family, learning about her family tree, and reading historical novels. She was thrilled to be able to travel more after she retired, including to England, where she visited historical sites and saw a Shakespeare play at the Old Globe theatre. She was an avid photographer, occasional scrapbooker, and novice quilter. While she slowed down in later life due to ill health, she never lost her interest in playing games and doing shorter trips around Washington and Oregon.
Jackie moved to Bainbridge Island, WA in 2012 to be closer to her grandchildren. She resided there until her death from cardiac arrest at 68 years old. She is survived by her ex-husband Michael, sons Matt and Dan, and her grandchildren Cuinn Witsoe and Kevan Tebow. She also left many other friends and family who will miss her generosity of time and kind words spoken over the years.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island on Monday, August 9th at 11am. Following that at 2:30pm, she will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma beside her father Kennor. May she rest in peace free of the pain of this life.
