Obituary Helen Aryline Millar peacefully left us to join her recently deceased and beloved husband, Roy (February 14, 2016) after a fall and broken pelvis. She and Roy did everything together, even leaving this earth to be reunited in their heavenly home. She was born in Long Beach, CA to parents Edward Wildes, who emigrated from Ireland as a lad and Alma (Nadler) Wildes. Ed and Alma owned and operated the very successful restaurant "Eddie's Café" on the Tacoma tide flats. After graduating from Stadium High School in 1943, she went on to work at the family restaurant for a few years. Helen's brother-in-law, Robert Crounse, introduced her to fellow firefighter Roy Millar, which was a "love connection" and they married. The joys of Helen's life were her loving husband and raising their two daughters Sandra and Vicky. Helen and her sister Betty were active members of the Tacoma Firefighter's Auxiliary for many years. The two sisters were very close and did most everything together. After Roy's retirement, the four of them spent many winters in Mesa, AZ as "snowbirds" and enjoyed cruising; having cruised 16 times with family and friends. They built a lovely waterfront home on Horsehead Bay in Gig Harbor where they lived for many years. She entertained and hosted many family functions there. As the years passed, they moved to Goldmont Condominiums in Tacoma and finally Narrows Glen Retirement Home. Helen is remembered as a giving, loving woman, impeccably poised with elegance and grace. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; parents, Ed and Alma; and younger sister, Peggy Rivers. Helen is survived by daughters Sandra (Robert) Svendby, and Vicky (Patrick) McIntyre; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and leaves behind a sister and very best friend, Betty Crounse. Helen's life is to be celebrated and honored with family and friends at Calvary Cemetery Chapel (5212 70th St. W., Tacoma) on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Point Evans Condo Clubhouse (903 30th St NW, Gig Harbor). "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
