Helen Tobin Maher

October 29, 1915 — October 30, 2015

Obituary Helen Tobin Maher Helen Tobin Maher passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in Tacoma, WA at the age of 100 from natural causes. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 29, 1915. She married Edward Daniel Maher on October 10, 1936 at the Cathedral at the Immaculate Conception in Denver, CO. After her mother died when she was 5 years old her Grandmother provided her education by the sisters of Loretto at Loretto Heights in Denver. She attended grade school and high school there. After raising her children, Helen led a fruitful and exciting life. She traveled extensively to England, Ireland & Italy where she had a private audience with St. Pope John Paul II. She lived in Taiwan for a time where she worked with the Native people assisting them in making their crafts more marketable with simpler techniques and modifications. Helen had many lifelong friends and she treasured those relationships. While at Laurel house and Tacoma Lutheran home, the aids, nurses, and staff would say how much they loved Mom and how interesting she was to talk to. She had a tremendous love for her family who all loved her in return, we will miss her terribly but will always remember her fondly. We would like to thank the staff at Tacoma Lutheran and Hospice for the loving and tender care they gave to mother.
