Obituary Helen Cashman, 79, passed away January 21, in Tacoma, WA, following a long illness. Helen was married for 59 years to Dr. John W. Cashman, who survives her. They spent most of their marriage residing in Prairie Village KN, but also lived in Cleveland, Seattle, Fort Worth, Washington, D. C., and Columbus, Ohio, before returning in the KC metro area in 1975. For the last 2 years they lived near Tacoma, WA. Helen was a committed and loving wife and mother, noted for her domestic creativity as a cook and decorator, with a passion for collecting and refinishing antiques. She loved flower gardens, adapting recipes to perfection, her many cats through the years, and serving the needs of her family with joy. She and her husband were members of Nazarene churches throughout their marriage. She was noted for her laughter, love of life, and confidence in her faith. Helen Feckanin was born May 19, 1928 in Cleveland. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons John, Jr. (Cyndy) of Norman OK and Tom (Rosemary) of Fox Island, WA; grandchildren Jessica (Matt Allen) of Dallas, and Zachery (Desiree) also of Norman; Helen's sister Mary Cox, of Cleveland, and brother George Feckanin (Jodi) of Cape Coral FL, along with nieces Jan Cox of New York, Valerie Abood (Toledo, Oh, Gail Atlas and Alan Feckanin, of Florida. The family wishes to extend its deep gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Patriot's Landing in Dupont WA, and the Weatherly Inn, of Tacoma. We are grateful for the professionalism and love provided to Helen by these outstanding organizations. Services and burial will be held Saturday, January 26th at 11am at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Gig Harbor, WA, Pastor Ron Kearns presiding. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home, 253-572-6003.
