Obituary Harley passed away peacefully on December 20, 2010 at Manor Care Facility in Tacoma. Born in Hot Springs, AR, on October 31, 1922, Harley was sent by train to stay with relatives in Tacoma at the tender age of 4 due to family illness. So began a wondrous life journey. He graduated from Lincoln HS and Bates Vocational in Tacoma. His early career with the Boeing Company was interrupted when he enlisted in the Army during WWII. Post War professions included insurance salesman, long shoring and as an aircraft mechanic at McCord AFB. Harley belonged to the Elks Club in Tacoma, the Knights of Columbus and St. Charles Borromeo Parish. Harley was a skilled bowler and joined several bowling leagues. His true love was his family and friends. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Married in 1953 to Mildred Fitzgibbons, they raised four wonderful children. His wit and charm will be missed. Harley is survived by wife Mildred, children Doug (Dee), Jan (Dave), James (Jessica), Kay (Mike) and 5 grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Tacoma. The family suggests any donations be sent to St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
