Obituary GUERINO L. CARRARA Guerino L. Carrara passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the age of 87. Guerino was born on December 27, 1920 in Tacoma, Washington where he lived his entire life. He attended Lincoln High School. Guerino served in the U.S. Army during WW2. He was trained with the Army Corps of Engineering building the Alaskan highway. He was then sent to Europe and was wounded in action and earned the purple heart. Guerino met the love of his life at Spanaway Lake at a dance. He married Beatrice Ann Groeper on October 4, 1947 and they had three sons. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Eagles, and VFW. He worked for Grassi Motors and Roberts Motors. He was a tile setter for many years and helped tile the St. Joseph Medical Center operating rooms and the Paul Bunyan mural at State Capitol in Olympia. He retired in 1983 as a pipefitter from Martinac Ship Building. Guerino had a love for his family and never missed any birthday or anniversary celebrations. He also had a love for automobiles, especially the Oldsmobile. Guerino is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann, his sons, Gary (Gail) and Craig (Donna), five grandchildren-Alison (Brad), Kristen (Rich), Jennifer (David), Courtney (Brian), and Jeremy (Debbie), and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Julia Alnutt of Arizona and Irene Koval of Tacoma and one brother, Arthur (Doris) Carrara of California. He is predeceased by his parents, one son, Randy James Carrara a brother, Eugene Carrrara and a sister, Lela Natucci. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tacoma Ave. S. and So. 34th St. A reception will follow at the Church Hall.
