Obituary Gerald C. Ley (79) of Gig Harbor, Washington passed away October 22, 2016. Jerry was born in Yakima to Gerald B. and Lola Ley. He had one brother, Frederick. Jerry graduated from Highline HS, Burien and Seattle University where he met wife, Judy. In their 55 years together, they raised 5 children: Patty, Chris (Laura), Matthew (Crystal), Dan, and eldest, Mike, whose loss they suffered. He was "Papa" to 7 grandchildren who brought him joy. A lifelong, devout Catholic, Jerry put his faith into action as a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, St Nicholas Parish Council; Holy Family Catholic School and as a speaker for Human Life of Washington. A USATF Master Official, Jerry (and buddy Dick Unrue) worked countless track and cross country meets over the years: high school, junior high, college, international and most dear to him the Special Olympics. He taught and mentored officials and he sought to teach kids the rules of the sport with kindness and humility.
