Gerald Eugene Coons

Gerald Eugene Coons passed away in Tacoma, Washington from a stroke April 26, 2022 age of 77. He was born in St. Joseph’s hospital in Tacoma, Washington to Veronica and William Coons who moved from Minot, North Dakota to Tacoma. He attended St. Leo’s Grade School, Bellarmine High School and graduated from Wilson High School in 1963. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and then went on to get his BA in Accounting & Business at Western Washington University. Gerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in San Francisco, California, Hawaii, & Rhode Island. He worked as an auditor for the Washington State Auditor’s office and the Franklin Pierce School District as Chief Financial Officer.

He married Margo Peters in 1977 and they had 3 sons. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved attending his son’s sporting events and getting together with family and longtime friends. He is survived by his wife Margo, his sons Scott [Jani], Wayne, and Patrick. Grandson Ethan and granddaughter Isabella, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed and we hope he is watching over us.
