Obituary George passed away peacefully on November 22, 2017 surrounded by family after a short illness, returning to the Lord and his wife Marietta. He was born on December 26, 1927 in Tacoma, Washington. He attended St. Patrick's School in Tacoma and Bellarmine Preparatory High School. George was a Korean War Veteran, having served his country honorably in the 79th Engineering Construction Battalion from 1950 - 1952. Upon his return from the war he resumed his Commercial Salmon fishing career purchasing the family's purse seiner F/V "MERIT" and would continue fishing from Puget Sound to SE Alaska until his retirement. George was a long standing member of the Tacoma Elks and the Slavonian American Benevolent Society. George's passion was constantly stressing the importance of family, togetherness and faith. George is survived by his sons Steve (Colleen), Nick (Teri) and daughter Teresa (Bill). His nine grandchildren; Mark (Jessica), Matt, Mike (Joy) Katherine, Andrew and Ryan Vlahovich, Haley, Jessica and Clara Andrews; Great- Grand-daughter, Lexi-Christine Vlahovich and his sisters Anne Marinkovich and Mary Sinkovich. George will be missed and remembered as the best husband, father and friend. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caregivers at Tacoma General Hospital, Narrows Glen and Allenmore Hospital. A private family funeral mass was held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on November 28th. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
