George Pederson

Obituary Lester Pederson was born Feb. 21, 1923 and went home to the Lord on June 2, 2005. He is survived by 4 children: Leslie Pederson of Arlington, Darrel Pederson (Hope) of Stanwood, Donna Newton (Richard) of Oak Harbor, and Kari Udbye (Andreas) of University Place, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law: Luella, Margit, and Vera Pederson, all of Arlington, brother-in-law Joe Wilcox of Mt. Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. Lester was raised on a farm in Arlington, WA where he was the youngest of 12 children by Norwegian immigrants John and Kari Pederson. He graduated from Arlington H.S. in 1941 and worked as a farmer, fisherman, and a blacksmith for Isaacson Steel in Seattle. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Renie, and they spent 43 happy years in University Place. In 1962 Les joined Puget Sound Plywood on the Tacoma Tideflats, where he worked until retirement in 1985. Les was an avid fly fisherman, and spent many summer days fishing for steelhead on the Stillaguamish River. He also enjoyed watching sports, playing cribbage, and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. He was a member of Mt. Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 47 years, a member of Norden Lodge #2 Sons of Norway, and Horace W. Tyler Masonic Lodge. The family wishes to express its thanks to the many caregivers of Quality Sitters and the staff at Franke Tobey Jones for loving care. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made in memory of Les to Mt. Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be held here on Sat., June 11 at 11:00 am (8902 40th St W, University Place, WA 98466)
