Obituary George J. Lovrovich George Jerome Lovrovich passed away on Saturday, July 21st, 2007 at the age of 79. He was born June 4, 1928 to John and Dumica Lovrovich at his family home in Gig Harbor where he lived his entire life. After graduating from Gig Harbor Union High School he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served from 1950 to 1953. While enlisted, he traveled overseas from Hawaii to Japan numerous times. After his service, George continued his true vocation as a commercial fisherman that began at the age of 14 years old. He was proud of his heritage as a fisherman and continued to skipper his boat up to the fall of 2006. George was also a marvelous craftsman and did all his own work on the boat from mechanical repair to rebuilding with wood and welding steel and aluminum. He could fix and build most anything. Some of these skills he learned at Kazulin Cole Boatbuilding in Tacoma and other shipyards while working between fishing seasons to help raise four boys who could eat him out of house and home. George most of all cherished his family and friends. He loved holidays the most, where he could hang out in the kitchen and cook and visit all day long. We'll miss him very much. He's gone for now but he will live on in our hearts forever. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor Fishermans Civic Club, Southeast Alaska Seiners Association, United Fishermans Assocation, and Purse Seine Vessel Owners Association where he served as a board member for a number of years. George is survived by his wife of 54 years; Pauline, sons; Gregg (Sheri), Gary (Laurie), Tim (Ann), and Tom (Rahna), sisters; Mary Serka and Millie Tropiano, brothers; Pete and Nick, grandchildren; Shea, Aleigh, Kaylan, Corey, Rachel, Brette, Laney and Linsey.
