Obituary George James Landeis George James was born on May 13, 1928 in Mandan, ND to George and Emma (Kadlec) Landeis and passed away on September 5, 2013. Survivors include his wife, Rose; sons, Tom (Betsy) and Chris (Jill King); daughters, Sylvia Singh (Surinder) and Karen McElrath (Steve); and grandchildren, Marissa and Kelsey Landeis, and Caleb, Darshan and Chaela Singh. With his family, George moved to Tacoma when he was about 13 years old. He attended Visitation Catholic School for one year and graduated from the then St. Martin's High School and St. Martin's College. Most of his career was spent as a teacher in the Tacoma School District. After retirement, he and Rose enjoyed some leisurely travels, his favorite haunts being the national parks and the mountains. George was a longtime faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and while there was pleased to participate in a variety of ministries. He was also an active Member of the Knights of Columbus #809. George always strived to do and take care of things well. He had a giving and caring spirit and he will be missed. Remembrances may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
