Obituary George J. Gunovich A native of Tacoma Washington, George was born September 3, 1921 and passed away July 3, 2009. He proudly served in the Navy during the 2nd World War in the Pacific. After his military service he became a salesman for Continental Bakery serving military installations, commissaries, NCO Clubs and other military facilities for nearly forty years. Through his life, work and fraternal organizations he made many friends. He was a life member of the Tacoma Elks #174 for over 63 years, life member of VFW #969, Puyallup Eagles #2308 and the Teamsters Union Local 117. George is survived by wife, Geraldine "Gerry", brother Donald and his wife Dorothy, son, Dr. Richard Gunovich "Rick" (Mary) of Marietta, Ohio, son, David Gunovich (Jana) of Fircrest, Washington, step-daughter, Maureen Freeman (Michael) of Tacoma, step-son, Robert McCall Jr (Terri) of Orting, Washington, grandson, Blair Gunovich of Marietta, Ohio, step-grandchildren, Brian and Mark McCall, Lori McCall Lidstrom, David and Scott Freeman, Christina Freeman Hasbrook, great-granddaughters Abigail, Madaline, Elaina, Ava McCall, great-grandsons Mason and Carson McCall and Ryan Hasbrook. A Vigil will be on Sunday, July 12, at 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, July 13, at 11:00 am. Inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School in George's name.
