George Martin Babare

Obituary GEORGE MARTIN BABARE George Martin Babare passed away March 17, 2008 following a long, healthy and productive life. George was born in Vancouver BC on April 16, 1916. He spent most of his childhood years living on Day Island with his parents and younger brother Bob where he enjoyed a typical childhood filled with adventures on the beach and on the water. As a young man George worked for his father's lumber business and at the family shipyard. Following a short stint in the Army (Japan) George returned to community where he worked at the Bremerton shipyards. Most of his working career was spent working with his brother Bob on numerous business ventures. George and Bob continued to have strong bond throughout his life. George married Dorothy Gillis on August 23, 1952. They raised 4 children while living in Old Town. Theirs was a strong and loving marriage filled with family and traveling throughout the world. Some of the joys in his life included his family, creating art, following the stock market, going to the theater and traveling. George M. Babare was predeceased by his parents, George D. and Mary Babare and his loving wife Dorothy Babare. He will be greatly missed by his family including his brother Robert (Gwen) Babare Sr., his children Martin Babare (Evelyn), Deborah Babare, Angela (Doug) Lusk and Paul Babare. Also grandchildren Jennifer Lusk, Douglas Lusk Jr., Matthew Babare, Kelli Babare, Daniel Babare, and his great-grandson Nathan Lusk. His family would like to thank Anne Kermabon for her years of friendship and support. She and George spent the last 15 years enjoying each other's friendship, going to the theater and traveling together. We would like to thank the staff at Laurel House and hospice workers LiAnn, Mary, Tom for their support and care of George during the last few months of his life. His life will be celebrated at his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March, 25 2008 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, 1001 N. J St. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
