Genevieve Irene Schoenecker
Genevieve Irene (Barbeau) Schoenecker formerly of
Tacoma passed away with her family by her side on
December 13, 2023 in Longview, Washington at the age
of 93. Genevieve was born in Wichita, KS on October
18, 1930, the fourth of nine children born to Sylvester
and Cecil Barbeau. On November 4, 1947 she married
Elmer Francis Schoenecker and the young couple moved
to Tacoma. In 1949 they bought their home in Ruston
where she lived for the next 70 years and where they
raised their five children. Elmer and Genevieve owned
the Francis Styling Salons for several years and after her
last children were born they sold the business and she
worked many years at JC Penney.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, husband
of nearly 60 years Elmer Schoenecker, brothers Paul
Barbeau and Vincent Barbeau; sisters Geraldine Matista,
Maxine Reichenberger, Pauline Rickey, and Mary Kelly;
grandchildren Michael Schoenecker Mackley, Gabriel
Schoenecker and Aaron Klander and a great grandson
Vincent Mackley.

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Blake and Rose
Doffing; her children Kathleen Stokesberry (Joseph
McKeon), Michael Schoenecker (Maria), Roger
Schoenecker (Herzl Goldin), Genevieve Schoenecker
(David Klander) and Paul Schoenecker (Lorna) and 12
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. All will miss
her greatly.
A Rosary will be held at Gaffney Funeral Home on
Wednesday, December 20 at 7PM. Funeral Mass will
take place on Thursday, December 21 at 11AM at Holy
Cross Church. All are welcome to attend.
