Frank E. Yaconette, Jr.
May 30, 1929 - September 6, 2021
Frank E. Yaconetti, Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep at Franciscan Hospice House, after a short illness, at the age of 92. A lifelong Tacoma resident and member of St. Rita’s Parish, he was married in St. Joseph Church in Mullan, Idaho in 1946 to Marian Garitone. They moved to Tacoma shortly thereafter.
Frank worked his whole career at the Port of Tacoma, quitting school and beginning at the age of 16. He was a tough guy in a tough place working in various capacities before settling on Locomotive Engineer, a longtime job for which he held great pride. A no nonsense, straight forward type of guy, he also possessed a good sense of humor and wit. He loved animals dearly and had a warm heart. He was an incredibly strong man to the end. Frank epitomized the example of hard work and minding his own business.
After retiring in 1980, he was fortunate enough to fulfill his passion for his home and garden and recreational property near Mt. Rainer, accompanied by his loving wife of 75 years, Marian.
Frank is preceded in death by his father, Frank Sr.; his mother, Michelina; his brothers, Guy and Johnny (both killed in WWII); sister, Nina; brothers, Joe and George. He is survived by his wife Marian; sons, John (Alex) and Bruce (Cheri); brother, Jack and numerous nieces and nephews.
A charismatic person, he will be missed.
