Obituary Frank J. "Gitchu" Kancianich Frank J. Kancianich died in Tacoma on February 21, 2006 after an illness of 2 months. He was born in Ruston on July 1, 1918 to Croatian immigrants, Frank J. Kancianich and Julia Ozanich. Frank was an Army WWII veteran. He served with the 42nd Rainbow Division and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his part in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired truck driver and was a Teamster member of 41 years of Local 313. He was married to Rose Ciro and they had two children, Judy and Richard. Rose died in April 1961. He married Lillian Shropshire in Nov. 1964 and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage, traveling and spending time at their beach place with their family and friends. Frank is survived by his wife, Shermy, and their five children: Judith (John) Nash, Richard Kancianich and Colleen, Danna (Mike) Clancy, Susan Olson, and Bob (Kay) Shropshire. Eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive him. The rosary will be recited at Gaffney Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 24th at 7pm with Mr. Robert Bockman, Sr. officiating. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at noon at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father John Wilkie officiating.
