Obituary Francis Joseph Browne 1916 - 2016 Francis J. Browne was born in Spokane, WA to Mary and Daniel Browne on September 19, 1916. He passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2016. He graduated as Valedictorian of Bellarmine High School class of 1935. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Combat Infantry during WWII. Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Helyn; his son "Skip"; and daughter, Anita. He is survived by daughter, Nancy Shonborg; his granddaughter, Christina (Art Smith) Schock; grandson, Aaron (Emily) Maruca; great-grandson, Vincent Smith; and many nieces and nephews. As a well-respected community business leader, Francis owned and operated Browne's Star Grill. He helped save AAA baseball in Tacoma as part owner of Baseball Tacoma. He enjoyed family and friends at his Fox Island ranch for many years. He will always be known for his charity and generosity. His wit, wisdom, and Irish sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 9:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
