Frances Ann Drake

January 11, 1935 — October 24, 2023

Frances Ann Drake, a proud military wife and mother, passed away on 24 October 2023. She was born on 11 January 1935 in Camden, NJ and graduated from Camden Catholic High School. She was the youngest of 11 children. She worked at the IRS and for the Army in between raising her children and managing the many moves during her husband's 32 year career in the
U.S. Army.


Frances married the love of her life, Donald, on 24 November 1956 and they were married for 65 years. Together they had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 greatgrandchildren. She will be remembered as a devout Catholic who stood firm in her beliefs. Her family also fondly remembers how generous she was in supporting causes and organizations that were important to her.


Frances Drake is survived by her daughter Denise Drake Brooks and son-in-law James Milton Brooks, her son Donald Lee Drake, and her daughter Diane Louise Drake and son-in-law Pablo Das. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Maria Elizabeth Brooks Quinn and her husband John Patrick Quinn, Jamie Brooks Johnson and her husband Matthew Brian Johnson, Christopher James Brooks, Lauren Brooks Kuennen and her husband Christopher Steven Kuennen, Daniel Lee Drake, David Matthew Drake, and Shawna Elizabeth Drake.


Additionally, she is survived by her great grandchildren Dylan Evelynn Johnson, Carson Matthew Johnson, John Patrick Quinn Jr., William Bradford Quinn, James Alexander Quinn, Thomas Joseph Quinn, Henry Brooks Quinn, Elizabeth Washington Quinn, Thomas Christopher Kuennen, and Luke Maximilian Kuennen.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Drake and infant grandson, Donald Drake.


Please join us for the Rosary at 0930 and the Holy Mass at 1000 on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 757 138th St S, Tacoma, WA 98444. You are also invited to attend her Internment on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 at 1220 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, please honor Frances by donating to your family’s favorite charity.
