Obituary FRANCES A. PORTMANN BROWN Frances Brown 96, a lifetime Tacoma resident, died 1- 27-09. She was the daughter of the late Anton and Theresa Portmann, a pioneer dairy family. She graduated from Holy Rosary School and Visitation Villa and spent her working years in retail sales. She worked for Rhodes department store retiring after 38 years of service as a cosmetician. She was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, the Retail Clerks Union,Y.L.I., and the Visitation Villa Alum. Assoc. She was preceded in death by her husband Merton B. Brown and long time friend Bentley Flintoff. Survivors include nephew, Raymond A. Sargent, Seattle; Michael J. Portmann, Tacoma; Nieces, Mary Rose McLeland, Everett; Barbara A. Clusserath, Pt. Orchard; Teri M. Marth, Sumner and many great nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 1, 2009, 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 2, 2009, 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Tacoma. A reception will follow the Mass. Entombment at Calvary Cloisters.
