Florence Katherine Hickey

Obituary Florence Katherine Hickey Flo passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, at age 92. She was born in Tacoma, WA on September 1, 1916 to Anton and Clara Zurfluh. She was one of 12 siblings. She married the love of her life, Raymond P. Hickey, in 1939. As the wife of a career army officer, she explored the world. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Tacoma, then later retired from Weyerhauser. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling life, with many friends, young and old. Known as "Ma" to many, her door was always open. She was always there to listen and comfort, or share a laugh. She was most proud of living to watch her family grow, with the opportunity to know and love her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond (1976). She is survived by her son Michael (Jacqueline) Hickey, grandchildren Michele (Casey) Wilkins, Sean (Emily) and Shane (Ruthy) Hickey, five great-grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Troy, Ryan and Justin, her sister Dorothy Boehmke, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 7:00 pm, at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma. A memorial in her honor will be held at a later date.
