Obituary Florence M (Schuler) Grenier 9/20/1921 - 10/6/2010 Florence M. (Schuler) Grenier passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on October 6, 2010. She was 89 years old. Florence was born on September 20, 1921, the eldest child of Charles and Lena Schuler. She was a lifelong resident of Tacoma. She attended Holy Rosary and Sacred Heart Catholic Schools and graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1939. She attended Marylhurst College. Florence worked in her family's theater business, in the banking industry and in the Tacoma Public Schools. Florence married James Grenier on July 10, 1947. Together they raised six daughters: Jaime, Jean, Judy, Jeri, Joan and Jill. Florence was very proud of all her daughters and they loved her very, very much. Florence enjoyed crossword puzzles, cribbage and the occasional trip to the casino. She was an avid reader and enjoyed local history. She had been a member of Holy Cross, Aquinas and Bellarmine Mother's Clubs, YLI, Catholic Daughters of America and the Swiss Society. She was a member of the Holy Cross Parish Finance Committee. Florence was recently honored by the City of Tacoma for over 60 years of continuous voting, a privilege she took seriously. Preceding Florence in death are her husband, Jim; daughter, Dr. Joan Grenier Dahl; brothers Charles and James Schuler and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Genny Odegard; her daughters: Jaime Woodard, Jean White, Judy Beeles, Jeri Jaap and Jill Pribbenow; grandchildren: Chuck, Jaime, Jerilyn, Peri and Ben and 3 great grandchildren. She had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends. Her funeral mass will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5510 N 44th St., Tacoma at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 11, 2010. Rosary and visitation will be at Gaffney Funeral Home on Sunday, October 10, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Florence was a strong supporter of Holy Cross Parish and Holy Rosary School.
