Obituary FLORENCE GOETZ Florence T. Goetz Passed away peacefully at her home in Tacoma, Washington on Dec. 5, 2009. Florence was born April 6, 1921 in Plain, Wisconsin. When she was 18 she married Henry Goetz and they moved to Tacoma where she resided for 70 years. Henry preceded her in death in May 2005. She leaves behind her children: special son, Bernie Goetz, Henry (Ann) Goetz, Jr., Rose (Bill) Sanders, Judy (Byron)EGilman & Joseph Goetz, all of Tacoma; William (Wanda) Gates, Robert (Sandra) Gates & Esther (Knute) Nelson & sister Marie Bauer, all of Wisconsin. She was blessed with 43 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren (this is not a typo, folks), 31 great-great grandchildren & was a foster parent to more than 40 children over 53 years. She is joining in Heaven her parents, her husband of 65 years Henry Goetz, daughter Helen Nation & brother Reinhold Prestsch. Florence was born to be a homemaker. Cooking, baking and canning were some of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed our large & loud family gatherings and playing a keen game of cards. Her Christmas cookies and bon bon's are the best any of us had ever had. She loved to plant flowers and putter around the yard. She was a wonderful and supportive Mother, Grandmother and friend. She was always handy with good advice even if you didn't want to hear it. We want to thank our close-knit family for caring for Mom in the end. Without your help caring for her at home would not have been possible. Viewing will be at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S. Yakima Ave., from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9th., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 10th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 34th St. and Tacoma Ave. S., with graveside services to follow at New Tacoma Cemetery. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home.
