Florence D. Anderson

Obituary Florence D. Anderson Mom was born on January 30, 1928 in Tacoma, WA and grew up in the Little Italy area of Tacoma. Mom cared for others her entire life, as she worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Health care facilities in Tacoma & Puyallup, WA. In 1967 Mom met the love of her life, James L. Anderson and they married in Tacoma, WA on October 12, 1968. In 1977 Mom & Dad went on an adventure & moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Mom became very involved at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, where she developed a special friendship with Father Stan Allie and Bishop Michael Warfel. Florence just loved Alaska and volunteered at the Native Hospital in Anchorage. The highlight of her life was when she met and received Holy Communion from Pope John Paul II and then went to visit him at the Vatican. Florence and Jim retired in 1985 and moved back home to Tacoma where they lived out their retirement years. Florence was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angeline (Harold) Berg and Carl Bisceglia; and her husband of 47 years, James. She is survived by her sons, Bill Tabor (Ani) and Tony Anderson (Linda); three grandchildren, Rochelle (Mike), Aaron (Elizabeth) and Lance; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Leif, Anna and Emma. She's also survived by two Godchildren, as well as many loving cousins. Thanks also to Mom's extended family members and to all of the rangers and staff past and present at Belfair State Park. Sincere thanks to St. Clare Hospital ICU - Doctors and Nurses for their outstanding care and compassion. Special thanks to friends Dr. Gerald (Nancy) Anderson, Verna, Sharon, Barbara, the Bingo Girls & the Burger King Gals! We will miss you Mom and the joy you brought all of us. "Thanks for the memories...Thank you for life". You are now reunited with your "BABE" A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 1403 S. Ainsworth Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405. The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home with viewing prior from 10:00am-5:00pm. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery.
