Evelyn W Piercy

December 14, 1925 — May 26, 2018

Obituary EVELYN W. PIERCY December 14, 1925 - May 26, 2018 Evelyn passed away peacefully at her home in Fircrest on May 26, 2018. Born in Tacoma, Washington on December 14, 1925, she was the daughter of Thomas and Florence Watts, formerly of Liverpool, England. Evelyn was one of seven brothers and sisters. She was an identical twin to her loving sister Florence Durham "Aunt Flo". Evelyn graduated from Stadium High School in 1944. Shortly after she began working at the Internal Revenue Service. Co-workers arranged a blind date for her with another IRS co-worker, Bill Piercy. They were married on November 18, 1949. Happily married for 25 years, they had six children. Preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill), her parents (Thomas and Florence), and her brothers and sisters, Evelyn is survived by her six children, Nancy Piercy, Sally Sipes (Joseph - recently deceased), Andy Piercy (Lois), Carrie Kors (Jeff), John Piercy (Teri), Tim Piercy (Trish), her 14 grandchildren, and her 7 great grandchildren. For Evelyn and Bill's 25th wedding anniversary their children purchased concert tickets for them to see Frank Sinatra in concert in Seattle. It was a magical night for them. Our dad passed away on July 10, 1975, thus beginning a new chapter in Evelyn's (mom's) life. She began working in the hardware department at the B&I store. She knew the name of every nut, bolt and screw. After its closure she worked at Tacoma Community College as a cashier in the college cafeteria. She retired from TCC in 2006 at age 80. Evelyn was loved by many and adored by all. She was small in stature but had an enormous heart, an infectious sense of humor, and honestly was just a "very cool and fun loving" grandma to all her grandchildren. She would not stop by your house without bringing a box of donuts, a package of steaks for dinner, or a shopping bag full of clothes for her grandkids. Special thanks to her oldest daughter, Nancy Piercy and grandson Joshua Piercy for being her fulltime caregivers and keeping her in her own home. There will be a private family celebration of this tiny woman's beloved life. We thought of you with love today but that is nothing new We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame Your memory is our keepsake with which we'll never part God has you in his keeping, We have you in our hearts Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
