Eugene B. Turbes

Obituary Eugene B. Turbes, 76, died January 4, 2006. He was born in Vesta, Minnesota and has been an area resident for more than 40 years. Gene graduated from Walnut Grove High School in Walnut Grove, MN and attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN before entering the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Gene served two tours in Viet Nam and also received the Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He retired in June of 1971 as a pilot at the rank of Major. Gene is survived by a son, John Reiner, Merritt Island, FL, two sisters, Marion Freeman and Dona Turbes of Elgin, MN as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and six siblings. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11, 2006, 11:00 a.m., St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneyfuneralhome.com .
