Obituary Eugene Francis Czaplewski, 83, of Tacoma, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born to John and Anastasia Czaplewski in Loup City, Nebraska on August 22, 1930, and was their last surviving child. His mother died when he was three and he was raised by his loving sisters Veronica, Frances, Lucille, and Lauretta. He enlisted in the Air Force and, stationed in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England, met his future wife June Alethea Allen. They were married in Washington, DC and lived in northern Italy, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, and North Dakota. He retired from the Air Force in Tacoma in 1970 after 20 years of service, including a tour of duty in South Vietnam. He went on to become an entrepreneur, helping to grow the largest Rug Doctor franchise on the West Coast. After the death of his wife June in 2000, he enjoyed 14 years of companionship and travels with his dear life-partner Shirley Garrison. Gene joins his wife and son Mark, and leaves behind his eldest son John and daughter-in-law Victoria, of Purcellville, Virginia, close friends Betty Mehloff and Joseph Nimidoff, and treasured nieces and nephews. "Gino" was the best role model throughout his full life: husband, father, provider, companion, mentor, organizer, friend, devotee of fine cars and music. He is remembered by those who knew him as a true gentleman and man of integrity. "Good show, Gino!" We are grateful for the loving care givers from Wiser Care Services, especially Paulette Levy, who helped him through his final days. A prayer service and burial will be held on Monday, August 4th, 1:00pm, at Gethsemane Cemetery, 37600 Pacific Highway S, Federal Way, followed by a reception.
