Obituary Esther Nell, 84 a former Dover, Pennsylvania resident, died in Tacoma, Washington. She leaves behind a daughter, Shirley A. (Nell) Fickert of Tacoma, Washington, a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Fickert of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, a grandson, Andrew P. Fickert and wife Felise of Sammamish, Washington, and her two precious great-grandchildren, Kylie and Ethan of Sammamish. Her surviving siblings include Erma Rutter, Nelson Byerts, and Ardella Wagenstein, all of York County. She was preceded in death by husband, Eugene Nell, brother, Harvey Byerts, and sister, Ruth Edleblute, and parents, Martin and Charlotte Byerts. Esther was a life-long member of Rohlers Lutheran Church, Conewago Rd., Dover, PA and taught Sunday School there for several years. She loved to travel and had visited every state except Hawaii. In her later years she enjoyed bus trips and cruises with her sisters. Her love of travel and nature was instilled in her daughter who was running out of new places for Esther to explore. Her favorite places were Yellowstone and Mount Rainier National Parks. She was always on the lookout for elk, bison, and bald eagles. She enjoyed sitting on her deck looking for deer to appear in the early evening. Her last six months were spent with family in Washington, especially her great-grandchildren who gave her great joy. A memorial service will be held in early April (date and time to be announced later) at Rohlers Lutheran Church. Please consider a donation to the American Heart Association or Rohlers Lutheran Church Sunday School.
