Obituary Emil J. Grubisa Emil was born on March 23, 1928 to Michael and Mary Grubisa who emigrated to this country from Croatia. Emil graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School in 1945 and went on to attend St. Martin's College and the College of Puget Sound from where he graduated. Upon his graduation, he was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served 2 years during the Korean conflict. After his Army service, he then attended the University of Washington. Emil was a ten year volunteer with Franciscan Hospice. He is survived by his loving wife, Phae; they were married for 38 years and spent a good life together. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay and Ann; children, Susan Marie and Julie Ann of Tacoma; step-sons, Gerry Crowell of Tacoma and Randy Crowell of Hawaii; and his precious dog, Joey, who walked with him every day of the year at Baltimore Park. Emil's favorite saying was "We're not going to get out alive". Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 9:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
