Elice E. Bortoluzzi

December 27, 1924 — June 13, 2007

Obituary Elice E. Bortoluzzi Elice passed away June 13, 2007 at the age of 82. She was born December 27, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Domenico and Sophie Pitton. After spending her childhood in Canada and marrying her husband John, she and John moved to Tacoma to start their family. Despite failing eyesight and temporary blindness in her early 30s, Elice fought back to regain her sight, and lived the next 50 years as an avid fan of old movies, shopping for jewelry on QVC, and spending time swimming in Mason Lake with her beloved sister Marguerite. Elice spent many years as a Nurse's Aide at Western State Hospital, and loved spending time enjoying her beautiful yard and all of its flowers. She was a lover of dogs who took in two different strays in her later years, an ardent fan of the Mariners, and an active member of the St. John of the Woods parish. She spent the last two years as a resident of Evergreen Place in Renton, where she made a lot of new friends, spent countless hours playing cards, and enjoyed frequent trips to the Muckleshoot Casino to try her luck with the slots. Elice was preceded in death by her husband John and her sister Marguerite. She is survived by her daughter Sue (Frank) Miele, son Bob (Patti) Bortoluzzi, grandchildren Mike (Kathleen) Miele, Barb (Brian) Fraker, Chris (Julie) Miele, Dani Bortoluzzi and Kelsi Bortoluzzi and great-grandchildren Mikaela, Madison, Mallory, Bennett, and the soon-to-arrive Sophia. Elice requested no memorial service. Donations in her honor may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home 253-572-6003.
