Obituary Edwin Charles Lindberg (LtC, USAF) 12/6/1931 ~ 8/15/2013 Family, friends and acquaintances lost a very special man on August 15, 2013. Everyone who knew Ed couldn't help but be drawn in by his friendliness, his welcoming spirit and his sparkling blue eyes. He was liked and respected by all who knew him. As an Air Force Officer, Ed travelled the world and while serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery with V attachment for Valor and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal as well as 8 Air Medals. He was a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. Ed's life began in Bellingham, Washington. When he was 5 years old, the family moved to Portland, Oregon where he spent his boyhood days. He attended Oregon State University where he met his wife, Marilyn. Together they raised four children all the while making the necessary adjustments to military life. Before leaving the service, Ed achieved a Master's Degree in Sociology from Pacific Lutheran University. Upon retirement, Ed became a master craftsman, building and repairing furniture. Ed also taught in the Catholic school system all the while enjoying country life owning and showing Arabian horses. Ed was successful at whatever he turned his hand to. In addition to his many accomplishments, he was a man of faith and it was his deep joy to serve in many capacities at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Ed leaves behind a close and loving family; wife, Marilyn; daughters, Margaret Pearson, Rosemary Walter, and Joanne Lindberg Willard; and son, Christopher Lindberg; along with their spouses and 7 grandchildren. Farewell lovely man, we have treasured you, we have loved you and we will miss you. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 10:15am.
